La Latina (Sunday the 9th of December, 2007)

Of all Madrid's boroughs, I like La Latina the most. This has been so before I ever set foot in its crowded streets, filled with people going from bar to bar, just from the description in my guide book. For me, its name alone promises little dirty bars where you can drink a coffee or beer and meet nice people; curved streets where you easily get lost, but where that doesn't matter. To give a short description: La Latina is exactly that.

La Latina, Madrid. Just one of the streets.
For no specific reason at all - like it is supposed to be - Sarah asked me to join her on a Sunday in La Latina, so I left Edecio early and made him proud for having a “date”. Well before three we had our first cañas in one of the borough's hundreds of small bars. All dirty, all full of nice people to meet.

A bar like a waste bin
Sarah loves La Latina as well. She’s French and slowly learning Spanish. Every time we meet there’s more to talk about. Every time we meet we connect better. I think the reason why we still meet after our first “dates” in which we couldn’t say much more than… well nothing, is we kind of match. Every time we meet, it feels like we meet first time, as every time there's so much more to be (able to be) discovered.

And I guess that's about all I have to say about today;) I took my camera, hence the photos. I feel great, hence the lack of melancholic philosophical talk about the meaning of life and painful lessons I learn. I could make up some story about how La Latina on Sunday represents my life, but hell: just come and see it and make up your own story. Maybe we'll meet there and I'll tell you some nice stories.
