My little perfect world

In my little perfect world I come home from work as fresh as I started the day. I light a cigarette and pop open a beer to spend the night with a good book, good company and good food waiting for me. I can listen to music as loud as I want to without damaging my ears or molesting the people around me. All the girls look beautiful and all the boys are stylish and handsome. My little perfect world is still a utopia.

In my little perfect world I can wait for the bus with the right music on the loudspeakers so I never have to charge my iPod. All people talk with each other, even with the unknown ones. A good seafood restaurant is never far away and they serve Inka Cola. The beaches are white and wide and the sea is always the right temperature. My little perfect world look a bit like Peru.

In my little perfect world everything is a little amateurish, but the people don't mind as they learned to enjoy everything. You can sleep there amongst wild animals and hear a lion near your tent at night. All the people can dance and do so, whenever there is music. If people invite you to their house, you get a good meal. My little perfect world looks a bit like Tanzania.

In my little perfect world you work hard and live intense. At lunch you drink good wine and at night they serve little snacks with your drink. Public transport is as good as free. When you look for a pharmacy you can just search for a green and red cross and they're always helpful. Parties last longer than you have energy. My little perfect world looks a bit like Spain.

In my little perfect world my friends are always close by. On a Saturday night you can go to The Automatic and see a great show. All the people speak a language I understand and in the supermarket they have everything I look for. The boys who cut my hair are gay and free to be so. The girls are emancipated. Yes, my little perfect world even looks a bit like Holland.

In my little perfect world everybody has the same chances, regardless of sex, age, religion, race, opinion. People really care about each other. There is no HIV/AIDS and cancer can be cured with one pill. No kids are born out of necessity, but all out of love. We respect each other and democracy actually works. Everybody goes to school, the girls as well. My little perfect world is still far from reality.

Every time I set foot in a new country I hope to bring some of its beauty with me and take some of its pain away. Every country is a source of inspiration and a cause of frustration. Like girls, every country is beautiful, but I still have to look for the perfect one. And then, maybe one day, I'll be in my little perfect world with my little perfect girl.

My little perfect world.
(N.B. I still have some invitations for Erepublik. If you care to build a perfect world online, drop a note and I'll send you one.)
